Program Planning

- Betsy Sexton, Advocacy Chair

Local League engagement begins in our grassroots program planning process. It is an opportunity for each member to have a direct role in determining which issues we study and which areas of action we focus on the next year. Members may recommend areas of new study (or concurrence) and weigh in on whether current local and state positions should remain as they are. The LWV Baltimore County board will review your recommendations and present its Recommended Program at the 2021 Annual Meeting in June. We will submit our recommendations on state League (LWVMD) program planning to their board for consideration.

This year, at our February meetings we will also review the positions of the League of Women Voters of Maryland (LWVMD) and we will be able to recommend new studies. Full descriptions of each League’s Position Statements are listed on their respective websites: LWVBCo,; updated education positions; and LWVMD,

All members are urged to join one of the discussions. Check The Voter, pages 7-11 for details on the planning process and information on specific positions.
