Program Planning 2025

Program Planning 2025 - Register for the Zoom meeting.

WHAT IS THIS?

The League’s Program is the agenda of public policy issues that will receive the League’s focused attention for a period of two years. Program Planning is based on policy positions. These positions are reviewed every two years prior to the biannual state convention. The LWVUS and states alternate convention years. This is the year for the states’ convention.

WHY DO WE HAVE POSITIONS?

They are the basis of our action and collaboration. Policy positions allow us to take action such as advocating in the legislature, communicating what we stand for to the public, etc. Our positions also help us collaborate with other organizations that have policies that are aligned with ours.

WHERE DO THE POLICY POSITIONS COME FROM?

Positions are generated from the bottom up in the League. Members identify issues of significance as priorities. These issues only become positions through study, consensus, and after being voted on at convention. These positions become the compass for the League’s work.
