Counting Votes

Mail-in ballots will be processed and counted beginning October 1. The first preliminary election results will be released late on election night, after the polls close and after any people who are still in line at 8:00 have voted. Those results will include mail-in ballots tallied to that point and early voting results. As results are received from the voting centers, the numbers will be updated.

Beginning the day after the election, each local Board of Elections will begin processing provisional ballots received at voting centers. The local Boards will also be processing mail-in ballots as they are received, provided they were mailed on or before election day. The final results of the Maryland election are expected to be available on Friday, November 13.
