Baltimore County Education Justice Table

The LWV Baltimore County was well represented at the November 2022 launch of Baltimore County Education Justice Table (BCEJT) Launch. League Co-President Angel Lewis, Board member Teniola Akinwuntan, and Education Chair Yara Cheikh were joined by members of the Baltimore County School Board, Strong Schools Maryland, Bridge Maryland, and community leaders advocating for Baltimore County parents, educators, students and community labor organizations. Each of these groups are united in working to advance equity and justice in public education for all students so our students can thrive in the classroom and in their communities.

A just education system should not be dictated by zip codes, but should rather be one that contributes to thriving communities as demonstrated through more equitable outcomes. The work of the BCEJT represents a sustained collaboration of a united group of stakeholders working together towards a common purpose unlike any seen in recent years.
